A Simple Plan is an amazing suspense novel by Scott Smith with a perfect plot.

Three friends find a crashed airplane in the wood. There is a bag full of money in it. As it is winter, it will be covered by the snow for some days. So they decide to get the treasure without noticing the police.

Soon problems arise and it becomes difficult to keep the treasure in secret. In the end, they will kill among them, only remaining the one who tells us the story.

The style of Scott Smith is very direct but also a reflexive one. In fact, the narrative voice and main character, explains us with the coldness of a surgeon all the possibilities in his decisions and the reasons for his elections.

The cinema version is a thrilling film and was directed by Sam Raimi featuring Bill Paxton, Bridget Fonda and Billy Bob Thornton.
